Protests in front of the Ministry of Justice building continued today. The Civic Initiative organized the fourth day of protests due to non-transparent policies and activities of the Government of Montenegro and its participation in fostering genocide and war crimes, the May 21 Civic Initiative announced today.
Tanja Pavićević, a member of the Council of the May 21 Civic Initiative, spoke at today's gathering, pointing out that the citizens of Montenegro do not agree with the ideologies of blood and soil that the new government and parliamentary majority are introducing to us.
She said that the past 9 months have shown that there are new and healthy potentials and activism in our society, but also that those who were obliged to oppose evil – remained deaf and dumb.
“While CANU (Montenegro Academy of Science) is inadmissibly silent on the violation of the fundamental values of a free and democratic society, the pro-government and privileged civil sector was suddenly “checked” even though the citizens were “darkened” by numerous appearances and a series of inadmissible behaviors of the current government.
Time will show more, and one thing is for sure – it cannot erase the memory of the “silence” of those to whom the public word is and the fight for the ideals of obligation, “she said.
It was pointed out at the gathering that further radicalization will be the burden of those who relativize and minimize dangerous social phenomena, and thus act as an extended arm of the right-wing government that seeks to annul anti-fascist fundamental values.
It was concluded that the time has come for us all, individually and in communities, to take responsibility for the present and the future of our country.
