“Such a situation is welcome to the tabloids in the region, which discourage tourists from traveling to Montenegro every day, declaring some citizens enemies and creating a climate in which staying in Montenegro is risky and Montenegrin policy is directed against other countries,” the statement said.
CIVIS said that, after losing last year, tourism professionals and most citizens expect hotels and private accommodation to welcome guests from the region and Europe this summer, in order to reduce the huge losses that the tourism industry is recording due to the pandemic.
They believe that the announcements of Serbian officials about the ban on entry into Serbia for Montenegrin MPs who voted for the Resolution on Srebrenica and the removal of the Minister of Justice, Minority and Human Rights Vladimir Leposavic, are the same political matrix according to which the previous government banned Serbian citizens from entering Montenegro. public appearances.
“Unfortunately, politicians contribute to such a climate more than the tabloids, many of whom have gained positions in highly profitable companies or well-paid jobs in state administration and companies, so they inspire divisions and spread hatred from those positions,” CIVIS said. .
They added that everything had gone so far that the people of Cetinje from Grblja were told that they were not welcome.
“It is necessary to ask whether inter-tribal conflicts are starting in Montenegro now and how foreign tourists will come to Grbalj, if there is no welcome there for their citizens either,” the statement reads.
In CIVIS, they believe that religious and national fanaticism are a direct blow to the foundations of Montenegrin society and its economy.
“It is high time that, instead of hatred, numerous actors on the public scene send messages of reconciliation and love, because Montenegro is a country of all citizens and tourists from all meridians are welcome in it,” the statement concluded.
