The Democrats announced today that after the vote on the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, it is clear that the deputies of the Democratic Front are trying to cause tension, to harm their colleagues with whom they form the government, but also the Government itself.
“Even if it is their political agenda in order to better position them, we understand them, but we tell them that we will not respond to such politically meaningless blows in the same way, but only with the truth, in order to protect every citizen of this country. Consequently, the Democrats, as a serious political entity, have a moral and professional obligation to present to the public the facts – not propaganda, not a distorted picture, but only facts – so that the citizens and the whole society of this afflicted and robbed country, tired of evil, would not be victims of false information, unfounded impressions of individual MPs and selective provision of information”, said the Democrats.
They emphasize that Amendment No. 5 was proposed by the Democrats, but also by Branka Bošnjak from the DF.
That amendment included:
1. To finally remove the mortgage of collective responsibility from the Serbian people. For the first time, it is formally demanded not to allow the proclamation of Serbs as a genocidal people. The amendment implied that the blame for the genocide was borne by individuals, and not by the Serbian nation.
2. An amendment implies that the branding of a nation is strongly condemned.
3. With this amendment, the Democrats demanded that the people should not suffer any consequences.
4. The amendment also implied that there could be no consequences for the status of the state in which these peoples live.
“Colleagues from the Democratic Front did not like all this. By voting against this amendment, they tried to endanger the interests of the Serbian people in order to profit politically. “They completely ignored the fact that for the first time there is an opportunity to remove the label of genocidal people from Serbs, and they should see that with the descendants of the Serbian people in Montenegro,” the Democrats believe.
According to the Democrats, colleagues from the DF, in order to make an extremely incorrect attempt to gain the cheapest political points, are trading with the difficult issue of crimes on the territory of the former SFRY, and unfortunately they are not the only ones doing so.
“Our obligation to the citizens of Montenegro, but above all to the truth, is that, without courting anyone, we do not even try to profit politically on this horrible legacy of the disintegration of SFR Yugoslavia.” “From there comes our firm and at every level honest and consistent position, which represents as much the fiercest defense of the interests of our entire society, as well as a civilizational step out of perfidious daily politics that does not shy away from the worst abuses,” the Democrats point out.
They add that those who accuse us today, for who knows how many times, of some “betrayal”, “selling the interests” of the Serbian people, cooperation with the DPS are unfortunately not interested in the truth, which is extremely clear from their approach to try to they stifle the truth, which we therefore strongly condemn.
“But let's supplement the whole story with a little more deconstruction of the spin machinery, which today is trying to grind the minds of the citizens of Montenegro, with the special goal of completely disavowing the citizens of Serbian nationality by striking at emotions. Even if the DPS was not in the hall, the Resolution on Srebrenica with the previously mentioned amendments would have been adopted, so short legs are a lie. And that lie is best deconstructed by mathematics! Regarding the lie that Minister Leposavic was “replaced by the Democrats together with the DPS, things are as follows: According to the Constitution, 41 votes are needed for the removal, so the essence is whether you vote for, and not whether you are against or abstained. “Mathematics is the enemy of spinners again,” the Democrats point out.
According to them, they are not as interested in the content of the Declaration on Srebrenica adopted in the Serbian Parliament in 2010, which clearly states that “the declaration is adopted in order to respect the decisions of the International Court of Justice in The Hague”, and those decisions are crystal clear. known to all.
“Apart from the above, they are not interested in the statement of the former president of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, who from the position of the president of Serbia says the following: “I am kneeling and asking for pardon for Serbia for the crime committed in Srebrenica. I apologize for the crimes committed in the name of our state and our people by any individual from our people, because everything that happened during the war in the former Yugoslavia has the characteristics of genocide.” We would also like to point out that colleagues from the Democratic Front were not interested in Milorad Dodik's statement from December 2, 2007, when he said: “So, I know perfectly well what happened. There was genocide in Srebrenica. That was ruled by the court in The Hague, because it is an indisputable legal fact”, the Democrats emphasize.
The Democrats, as they emphasize, had both a moral and a professional obligation to equally and objectively, as has always been the case so far, regardless of the nation in question, stand up for the protection of the Serbian people in order to prevent various manipulations or accusations and labeling one nation.
“Democrats have no obligation, nor will they ever agree to it, to follow cheap attempts at politicking, but we will, as always, be on the side of justice and truth. In that light, we have only one question for our esteemed colleagues with whom we form a parliamentary majority and with whom we together on August 30 realized the dream of hundreds of thousands of people in this country to finally liberate Montenegro: Is everything you are doing worth a few votes?” the Democrats conclude.
