Medojevic: New government or protest, collectives to elect school principals

We have made it clear to Krivokapic that he has lost our trust and that we are asking for the formation of a new government, Medojevic said.

The current Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić has lost confidence since he is supported by only 14 deputies, and the solution to overcoming the political crisis is the formation of a new government, said the leader of the Movement for Changes PzP, Nebojsa Medojevic, in an interview for Nova M.

He reminds that the representatives of the Democrats and URA do not agree with the position of the DF.

“We understand that, Becic supports because he is the president of the Assembly, URA supports because it has 90 percent of power in this government. They received 5% of the vote and it is clear that they are interested in this Government lasting as long as possible, but it is not in the interest of the citizens of Montenegro and it is not in the interest of the state of Montenegro because this government does not produce or deliver results in foreign policy, the fight against organized crime, against corruption, the dismantling of the old system of political transition. That is why the DF acted as a real democratic party. When the DPS entered into a coalition with Krivokapic and URA, voting for the removal of the minister, at that moment we demanded the formation of a new government. We have made it clear to Krivokapic that he has lost our trust and that we are seeking the formation of a new government,” Medojevic said.

Medojevic points out that the DF is clear – it does not want any combination with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).

“However, the interests of the Democrats and URA are not partisan, maybe the personal interests of vanity, complexes, frustrations have dominated at this moment above the interests of the citizens and now we have a status quo that is unsustainable,” added the PzP leader.

And since the Democrats and the URA will not give up their privileges, the DF sees the only solution in the protests. Medojevic says that the political alliance has repeatedly shown that it fights for the interests of citizens and voters, even on the street.

“What remains is to create political pressure again through a boycott of the Parliament, protests and for the formation of that transitional government and several things that that government should do – cleaning voter lists, organization of the censuse, dismissals in the Prosecutor's Office and new management in RTCG. I think that would be a minimal package that we could solve and go to new elections to return the mandate to the citizens,” Medojevic said.

It is precisely these structures that have taken positions together with, as Medojevic says, the regime that are leading the campaign that the DF wants seats.

“How do we want a seat when both the Prime Minister and the President of the Assembly are not from the DF or the coalition “For the Future of Montenegro”, and we took two thirds of the ruling votes. So it is clear that we are extremely openly democratically transparent and that through this initiative, ie the protest and boycott of the Parliament, we intend to alarm our voters because we are under pressure from our voters who are very dissatisfied. They consider the results of this Government to be an outburst and a fraud of the voters’ will, and I also agree with that,” Medojevic added.

Collectives to elect school principals

Medojevic also referred to the controversial election of school principals, which was in the focus of the public in the previous days. He says that he personally advocates the depoliticization of the education system and decentralization.

In his opinion, the best option would be for the collectives themselves to elect school principals, and for the Ministry to give only consent.

Gambling and non-transparent business

The Ministry of Finance recently announced that it managed to protect the country from currency risk for a loan with the Chinese Exim Bank, and that instead of interest in dollars of two percent, it would achieve interest in euros of 0.88 percent. Medojevic believes that this is a very suspicious, gambling and non-transparent business, and that the DF will request a hearing of the Minister of Finance before the Parliamentary Committee on Economy.

“Public finances are conservative and they must not be secret, they must be under strict control and the money of the citizens of Montenegro must not be gambled. So, look at what the Minister of Finance himself said. We paid 27 million euros to an unknown investment bank, probably Goldman or City bank, we will see because we have no papers, he did not give us that information, and that bank returned 32 million euros to us the same day. So what do you think the investment bank goes into the red? Yes, an investment bank that deals with and trades in speculative financial derivatives, foreign exchange futures are the most speculative financial product with the highest risk, it is gambling around the future exchange rate of the dollar and euro, and you know that Montenegro has no influence on the dollar and euro exchange rate, and large investment banks have information before the Government of Montenegro”, said Medojević.
