Evroliga će od sezone 2023/24. biti zatvoreno takmičenje, prenosi “Mundo Deportivo”.
Prema pisanju španskog dnevnika, plan je da svi učesnici imaju višegodišnje licence.

this idea because Eurocup costs too much money to the founding clubs and doesn't generate enough revenues. This was one of the main topics of the “secret meeting” that 7 Euroleague clubs had a few weeks ago. So now the plan is to go into full NBA style in a couple of years.

U tom slučaju bi Evrokup izgubio svrhu jer su iz tog takmičenja dosad jedna ili dvije ekipe dobijale šansu da igraju u Evroligi.
Navodno je 11 timova, koji imaju licence, zahtijevalo da se sprovede ovaj plan jer bi u suprotnom tražili da Đordi Bertomeu napusti čelnu funckiju u Evroligi.
Jedan od razloga je i finansijski jer Evrokup godišnje potroši sedam miliona eura, a ima prihod tri miliona.
Evroligaši traže da se taj novac dodijeli njima.
