The SDP proposed a resolution on stabilizing the political situation

Today, the draft resolution was submitted to the Parliament of Montenegro by MPs Raško Konjević and Draginja Vuksanović Stanković

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) proposed a resolution on stabilizing the political situation and reaching a European consensus, which, as explained, contributes to overcoming divisions and finding common constitutional, European and democratic solutions.

Today, the draft resolution was submitted to the Parliament of Montenegro by MPs Raško Konjević and Draginja Vuksanović Stanković.

The resolution expresses its readiness to initiate a serious, broad and comprehensive political-parliamentary dialogue in order to resolve open issues in the judiciary, since the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, the State Prosecutor's Office and the Judicial Council are in acting or a dysfunctional condition.

“It is necessary to initiate a dialogue on the occasion of the election of the Supreme State Prosecutor and the Prosecutorial Council in order to reach a broad consensus and avoid political instrumentalization of this body,” the SDP document reads.

It is emphasized that Montenegro also needs a dialogue on the strategy of economic development and measures for overcoming the economic crisis, caused by the absence of key reforms and the corona virus.

“Based on the existence of the European value of the majority in the Assembly, it is necessary to urgently intensify the process of European integration, which was essentially stopped due to divisions and crisis within the government, as well as the absence of dialogue with the opposition and other social actors.”

It is emphasized that all individual and collective rights must be protected and enabled without the creation of exclusive rights at any time and in accordance with the principle that all are equal before the law, with the same rights and obligations.

“The civic character of the state is a constitutional determinant, and secularism is one of the basic values of the modern rule of law and must be binding in all segments of the state and society,” the resolution reads.

The SDP calls on all social actors, state bodies, political parties, social and non-governmental organizations that share these values to come together and work together to contribute to a peaceful solution to the problem and a way out of the severe crisis of Montenegrin society.

“We are convinced that there is a desire for such an approach by a convincing majority, especially in days of pronounced political and social tensions and conflicts,” the resolution said.
