The government plans to additionally borrow up to 900M euros

"On the day of the vote on the budget, they are proposing an amendment to approve the loan"

The Government of Montenegro has submitted an amendment to the Draft Law on Budget for this year, which envisages that the state can borrow up to 900 million euros this year.

The amendment will be discussed today at the session of the parliamentary Committee for Economy, Finance and Budget.

“For the purpose of repurchasing and / or refinancing the state debt, the Government can borrow a maximum of 900 million euros in 2021, which can be provided through arrangements with international financial institutions, then through the issue of bonds on the domestic or international market, and by concluding bilateral or other credit arrangements”, the proposed amendment states.

Konjevic: The government really likes borrowing up to 900 million this time

Social Democratic Party (SDP) MP Rasko Konjevic said that the Government really likes borrowing up to 900 million this time.

“They said there would be no new debt in 2021, so now almost a billion euros,” Konjevic wrote on his Twitter account.

On the day of the vote on the budget, the Government of Montenegro is proposing an amendment by which it wants to get approval so that it can borrow up to 900 million euros, without a broad dialogue and serious discussions, Konjevic said.

“Emergency session of the Committee on Economy at 12 noon. The government without a serious debate in the Parliament, on the day of the vote, without a debate and a broad dialogue, wants to get approval to borrow up to 900 million this year! Amazing, and transparent. And yesterday, she lost the trust of the majority”, stated Konjević.
