Simijanovic: I negotiated a new government with Amfilohije and Abazovic

Simijanovic revealed that with the late Metropolitan Amfilohije and a politician who, as he says, was on the scales - alluding to Dritan Abazovic, he expressed his views on who should be in the Government.

Stevan Simijanovic, an American, Montenegrin, and most likely Serbian citizen and spy, who was arrested in Niksic on charges of possessing a fake diplomatic passport, confirmed in an interview with IN4S Pobjeda that he actively participated in the agreements on forming a new government in Montenegro.

He revealed that with the late Metropolitan Amfilohije and one politician who, as he says, was on the scales, alluding to Dritan Abazović, he expressed his views on who should be in the Government, Pobjeda writes.

“First, I met with an opposition politician who was on the scales. We have expressed views on what would be best not to be in that government. After that, I went to Ostrog and met with the late Metropolitan Amfilohije and told him what had to be done. The position was that three politicians (Mandic, Knezevic and Medojevic) should not be in the Government, the Metropolitan asked me if they could not or their parties could not. I said that they personally cannot, but anyone from their parties can. Which was later reported at the meeting, and the metropolitan agreed to it. This is where animosity towards me arises, without looking at any picture in the future”, pointed out Simijanović, confirming all the information of Pobjeda due to which a control interrogation of Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović was conducted, whose party paid for his stay in Podgorica.

He also claims that it was agreed at that time to sign a basic agreement with the Serbian Orthodox Church, but that after the death of Amfilohije, Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić took “a different path”.

“I was engaged in various ways to remove the regime of Milo Djukanovic. Engagement in Montenegro started at the time of the vote on the Law on Freedom of Religion, in December 2019. That is when I concentrated most intensely on Montenegro. Then I activate myself and use my acquaintances to the maximum to acquaint the entire American administration with human rights violations. “Certain people from the church went to Washington and met with certain people from the State Department, and the United States took the position that the law is being violated by that law and that they cannot violate it,” Simijanovic said.

He pointed out that before the parliamentary elections, there were no direct contacts with the representatives of the current ruling majority.

“I was active for the first time on election day, after the first results. There was a certain phone call that was made to me from Washington. A conversation was to be held with President Djukanovic, and I expressed the view that the elections must be recognized and that, in the event of any attempt at manipulation, blood could fall. At that moment, the US administration signaled to Mr. Djukanovic that the election must be recognized, that his option had been lost, and he was told that if a drop of sweat fell, let alone a drop of blood, he would answer personally. Until this part of the conversation was done, he did not want to admit the election. He did not expect such a signal from the USA”, claims Simijanović.

He adds that he did not participate in the signing of the agreement that Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić signed with the Democrats and GP URA.

“I have seen who can have authority and calm the passions within the ruling majority of churches,” he added.

According to him, only who will be the prime minister and deputy prime minister have been respected since the agreement, as well as the change in the Law on Freedom of Religion. It was envisaged that a number of ministries would belong to the coalition For the Future of Montenegro, and a part to minority parties.

“While the metropolitan was alive, it was an agreement. We insisted that the will of the people be satisfied, but also the international community. After the death of the metropolitan and the fall of US President Donald Trump, the prime minister-designate moves on to another story where some agreements have not been honored. The biggest is that the basic contract, which was already agreed upon at that time, has not been signed yet,” Simijanovic said.

He claims that he did not have forged documents

Stevan Simijanovic was detained on February 8 in Niksic, Montenegro, on suspicion of using a forged United States diplomatic passport.

On that occasion, he said that none of his documents were forged.

“If any of those documents had been falsified, I would have been brought to the prosecutor's office at the same time. I have not been brought before the prosecutor, nor have I been questioned as a suspect. They took the documents and told me to ask for Interpol certificates for them. After a few days, they called me to return some of the documents to me, and they kept some. “Interpol responded a long time ago, but they have not returned my American passport yet, although they have the Embassy's answer that it is an authentic document,” he claims.

He accused the former director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović, of, as he said, the media chase that followed.

“It simply came to our notice then. My sin is that I contributed to the composition of the Government to some extent, because Djukanovic hoped that the Government would not be formed, in order to call elections where he could fake everything as before. I assume that this is one of my sins”, stated Simijanović.
