Montenegro in crisis again: Everyone thought that Milo Đukanović was politically dead, but he returned in style and overthrew the pro-Serbian government, Vučić becomes nervous…

With a parliamentary outcome contrary to their wishes, Milo Đukanović actually humiliated the entire government from the presidential position, showing the Prime Minister that he could very well checkmate him.

Writes: Davor Krile

Not even six months after its establishment, the new Montenegrin government is shaking again.

At least on unstable feet since its inception, and very much like a strange political beak made up of Greater Serbs, reformists and pro-Europeans, the removal of Justice and Human and Minority Rights Minister Vladimir Leposavic and a resolution condemning the Srebrenica genocide could afford a fatal split and calling new parliamentary elections.

The dismissal of the pro-Serbian minister who relativized the Hague verdicts and the Srebrenica genocide was initiated by Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic after pressure from the United States and the international community, which also demanded a clear condemnation of the Srebrenica genocide.

Both decisions were adopted, however, thanks to the votes of the opposition, with the key predominance of the representatives of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Milo Đukanović, who broke the boycott of the parliamentary sessions for that very purpose.

Representatives of the ruling pro-Serbian Democratic Front were against, demanding that all crimes in the wars in the Balkans be condemned instead of genocide. In the end, they dramatically said that the condemnation of the Srebrenica genocide was an act worse than the recognition of Kosovo and in fact only an introduction to the abolition of the Republic of Srpska.

With a parliamentary outcome contrary to their wishes, Milo Đukanović actually humiliated the entire government from the presidential position, showing the Prime Minister that he could very well checkmate him.

Krivokapić found himself under attack from his own partners and his own fans, but also under criticism from the Serbian authorities. Although he leads the government with a pro-Serbian label, he is now being called a traitor for recognizing the Srebrenica genocide, and he managed to resent the Serbian Orthodox Church because he did not sign the Basic Agreement for recent visits to Belgrade.

He himself is already becoming aware of the absurdity of his position, so he claims that no one sees his government as his own and everyone wants to overthrow it. After the ruling party's largest party, the pro-Serbian Democratic Front, announced a boycott of parliament and accused the prime minister of betraying voters and collaborating with Djukanovic's DPS, Krivokapic returned the ball and accused them of the same thing:

“I owe the citizens of Montenegro the full truth about what happened and is happening behind the scenes of the Democratic Front's attack on the Government of Montenegro: DF, together with the Democratic Party of Socialists and their former coalition partners, most directly agrees to overthrow the Government and Parliament and calling new parliamentary elections,” Krivokapic wrote on Twitter.

He also rejected claims that a new majority had been created in the Podgorica assembly, and said that he would not be the prime minister against the will of the people. However this Montenegrin political riot ends, one thing is certain: the further fate of Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic is not in his hands.

The great “dad” from Belgrade, Aleksandar Vučić, also referred to the Montenegrin political situation, telling the Serbian people in Montenegro that Serbia will always be with them and keep their heads up.
