Krivokapic: Government has two oppositions, I do not agree with blackmail, I will initiate a dialogue with the parliamentary majority

The Prime Minister addressed the citizens

The Prime Minister, Zdravko Krivokapić, addressed the citizens of Montenegro.

We convey his address integrally.

“Dear citizens,

Since I became a prime minister, and even before that, and especially lately, I have been criticized for everything: to betray the people, to betray the Church, to sell, to lie, to trade with the election victory, and even to smuggle cigarettes.

I have listened and I listen to insults, the most personal insults, I have been condemned and condemned to be the first prime minister to learn democracy, but I, like all of us together, learn democracy, and I love my people and the whole of Montenegro. I accepted that, I accepted to suffer, but I admit, I did not hope that this could go so far and be so personal. I am also a man, if that is even acknowledged to me today, and a man, even if he is the Prime Minister, has limits of suffering.

I fought and am fighting for a change in the system, for the fight outside the parties, which started outside the parties, I understood the victory of the citizens of Montenegro, so I accepted it as disapproval of blackmail, so I did not agree with the blackmail. At the cost of any function, I will never accept that we are creating a society in which only the national, the state, belongs to the parties, in which, again, the party's appetite is most often the primary motive. I did not want such a victory because it is not a victory.

Because of such a path, I am conditioned again, they threaten me again with the loss of trust, and the people with the deepening of tensions. Again, I am blamed for disobedience to those who think they should govern my head and my decisions just because I am a Prime Minister who does not accept blackmail. It is difficult to be a child of democracy, its firstborn, the voice of its cry, and here I mean all holders of today's power, it is difficult to be the first, to shine by birth, to know everything, and only to learn how to become available to the people after thirty years of absolute unavailability. Despite everything – we will succeed.

Who are we to ruin a historic victory? This is not a victory for us who are currently in power, this is a victory outside the government and outside the institutions, this is a victory for the people and the truth. This process is not perfect, but can there be a perfect transition after three decades of total usurpation. This Government and I were condemned by parts of the parliamentary majority even before we took office. It is almost impossible to work in such circumstances of constant destabilization and destruction, especially when the most unimaginable obstructions of the former regime are added to that. This government, unfortunately, has two oppositions. Despite everything – we will succeed.

As long as I am the Prime Minister of Montenegro, I will tell only the truth, I will tell you from the heart of a man when untruths hurt, who does not accept blackmail and injustice, I will rebel at every mention and attempt to collapse your victory, I will speak in the name of the fight for which I pledged everything.

What has been happening in recent days is just the finale of what has been prepared and systematically built since the Government was formed, and that is an attempt to collapse and discredit the first democratic government in the history of Montenegro, a government without DPS. It is not a coincidence, but a well-coordinated and well-prepared scenario. Despite everything – we will succeed.

We must all work together to stabilize the political situation. At this moment, it is our most sacred duty and obligation before you, the citizens, because it is the only measure of responsible, wise and mature state policy. To that end, as I planned, I will initiate a dialogue with all representatives of the parliamentary majority as soon as possible.

That is why I call on you to believe in a joint glorious election victory on August 30, and I will remain in the defense of the interests of all Montenegrin citizens until the end, even if I have been convicted three times and I will never agree to the blackmail of me remaining at the head of the Government, I will take the oath that I gave you in the most personal way at the time of my appointment,” said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić.
